Tuxedo-Black Christmas Tree?

What will they think of next? In case you can't see it too well - this is an all-black Christmas tree. I actually saw one of these at Walmart yesterday. Black. With little white lights, but still, totally black. Am I the only one who thinks this is just a bit...strange?

Don't get me wrong - black has it's place, for sure. My first car I purchased with my very own money was black. By choice. Black clothing, black vehicles, black accessories (purses! shoes!) - all very elegant, very classy, very tailored. Love it.

But a black Christmas tree? Black TREE? I'm sorry, but when I think of black trees, I think of forest fires. Old, charred wood, blackened branches, leaves gone....

I understand not all trees need to be green, of course. White Christmas trees reminiscent of snow perhaps, and then there's the silver and gold trees, while not exactly true-to-life, at least they are festive and sparkly and have their place.

But Black. I just don't see this one catching on. And if it does, I guess I'm in for a major attitude readjustment, because I'm just not going to make it!

I'm not sure how well I would adjust to this either, but I do see these having their place in the home of a childless couple, mid-30's, $200k per year, with very modern furniture. The type of people who sit around on Christmas morning with 2 glasses of fine wine and have classical music in the background and quietly open up gifts of theater tickets and weekend trips to out of town art museums. I'm not judging and this is not described mockingly (believe it or not), its just the picture in my head when I think of a black Christmas tree. I would LOVE to get theater tickets though! :)

You know, I can almost picture that! The same people who have white carpeting and black leather couches and ebonite coffee tables ....oh so obviously these people have no children of their own, much less in their lives at ALL! Okay, for those people, I give you, the black Christmas tree. But I at least hope that in addition to their black showcase tree in the living room, they have a little green one tucked into the corner of their gourmet kitchen/family room/great room combination.....
